The short version
- Photos are processed on your phone and never stored.
- No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- A photo leaves your phone only if you choose to email an unrecognized symbol to the developer, and only when you press Send.
Who we are
Kashrut Check (“the app”) is a mobile app developed and maintained by an independent developer (orizens.com). This policy explains what the app does with your information.
Camera and photos
The app asks for camera access so you can photograph a kosher symbol on a package. You can also pick a screenshot from your photo library using the system photo picker, which shares only the image you select.
- The image is analyzed on your device by a model bundled inside the app.
- The image is not uploaded to any server.
- The app does not keep it: it is not added to your photo library and is not stored on any server.
The app does not use the camera for anything other than this, and does not record audio or video.
Information we do not collect
The app has no accounts and does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, or device identifiers. It contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking tools. Matching works offline, so the app needs no internet connection to check a symbol.
Optional: sending a symbol for review
If the app does not recognize a symbol, you may choose to send it to the developer. This is the only case where information leaves your phone:
- The app opens a draft email in your own mail app with your photo attached and a short note.
- The draft also includes technical details: app version, language, and the match result.
- Nothing is sent until you press Send in your mail app. You can edit or cancel at any time.
- If your phone has no mail account set up, the app opens the contact page instead.
We use these emails only to review the symbol and improve the list and matching. We do not sell, share, or use them for advertising. We keep them only as long as needed for that review, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Permissions
- Camera: to photograph a kosher symbol, as described above.
- Photo library: not requested in bulk. When you choose a screenshot, you pick it through the system picker.
You can revoke camera access at any time in your phone’s Settings. Choosing a screenshot will still work.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Because the app collects no data automatically, we expect changes to be rare.
